Chen Yan Yan was a Chinese actress and film producer in the cinema of Republic of China (1912–1949), British Hong Kong and Taiwan.
In 1932 she played the main role in the silent film "Nanguo zhi Chun" 南国之春 (Springtime in the South). Her acting was well received by the audience and she started gaining popularity, starring in many more movies.
Chen produced also two films herself, "Love Fiesta", in 1957 and "Shark of the Pacific", in 1961.
She won a best supporting actress award in 1961 at the Asian Film Festival for her appearance in the 1961 film "Misfortune". Chen Yan Yan retired from films in 1972, but she still appeared on TV.
She married twice. Her first husband was the cinematographer Huang Shao Feng, but the couple divorced some years later. After a brief marriage with actor Wang Hao, Chen kept living alone with her daughter born from her first husband.
She died in 1999.
