Fukuda Yasushi is an acclaimed Japanese screenwriter. He was born in Tokuyama city (now part of Shunan city), Yamaguchi prefecture. He studied French literature at Meiji Gakuin University but later dropped out to join a theater company as a scriptwriter, His debut television work came is BLACK OUT (1995) with TV Asahi. Since then, he has produced the screenplay of many famous dramas and movies such as HERO, Galileo, Ryomaden and DOCTORS: The Ultimate Surgeon.
He has won The Television Drama Academy Award for Screenplay twice, in 2005 and 2008.
